NSTC 115th Year "Key Technology Research and Development and Field Application Project for Intelligent Robots" Now Accepting Applications

The National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) is now accepting applications for the 115th Year "Key Technology Research and Development and Field Application Project for Intelligent Robots." Relevant information is as follows:

1. In alignment with the policy direction of the "Intelligent Robot Industry Promotion Program," this project has been meticulously planned and launched. Principal investigators are required to thoroughly review the project solicitation announcement (attached). Key application notes are summarized below:

(1) Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Research teams must be composed of scholars from AI, computer science, electrical engineering, control engineering, mechanical engineering, and other intelligent robot-related fields, integrating both software and hardware expertise. Additionally, at least one scholar specializing in application domains must serve as a co-principal investigator.

(2) Industry-Academia Cooperation: Applicants must invite technology partners and application-oriented enterprises to participate in collaboration, facilitating the practical implementation of industrial applications. Proposals should include letters of intent from cooperating companies, emphasizing substantial involvement from these partners.

(3) International Collaboration: Engagement with internationally recognized academic or industrial entities is encouraged to leverage global research and development capabilities.

(4) Focus: The project centers on the development of service robot systems capable of autonomous mobility and task execution in real-world environments, primarily targeting sectors such as hospitality and dining, healthcare, logistics inspection, and disaster prevention and rescue. The initiative emphasizes AI-driven key technology development, with the goal of translating research outcomes into tangible industrial and societal benefits.

(5) Rigorous Evaluation and Exit Mechanism: The project enforces stringent assessment and termination protocols to phase out underperforming teams. Furthermore, NSTC reserves the right to consolidate project teams, adjust team members, or modify project budgets and execution plans based on review outcomes.

2. Principal and co-principal investigators must comply with NSTC’s regulations governing funded research projects. Each principal investigator is limited to submitting one application for this project.

3. Appeals for projects not granted funding under this initiative will not be entertained.

4. This project mandates online application submission. All forms must be completed via the NSTC website (https://www.nstc.gov.tw) under the "Academic Research Service Network." During online submission, select "Research Project" under "Application Items"; under "Project Category - Rolling Review Projects," choose "General Strategic Project." For research type, select "Integrated Project"; for project affiliation, choose "Engineering Division"; and for discipline code, select "E9848 Advanced Robot Modules and System Integration."

5. Application deadline: February 22nd, 2026.

6. Internal contact person: Ms. Chang-Ju Lee, extension: 2522.
