The NSTC 116th Year General Research Project (Large Batch) funding applications are now open. Relevant information is as follows:

1. The NSTC system at Yuntech will close on January 5th, 2027, at 23:59. Applicants are requested to complete their online submissions before the deadline.

2. Faculty members uploading proposals should ensure the year is 116 and select the general research project category; new faculty research projects apply to those who have served as teachers domestically or abroad within the past five years.

3. Before submitting proposals, faculty must verify that the project application batch number and the principal investigator’s qualifications comply with Article 3, Section 1, Subsection 1, Clause 1, Item (1); project-based teachers must meet the qualifications outlined in Article 3, Section 1, Subsection 3. Additionally, contract-based full-time teaching staff should specify their full appointed titles (e.g., Project-Based Assistant Professor, Project-Based Lecturer) to avoid rejection.

4. When preparing the budget, faculty are advised to allocate funds for research ethics review fees (approximately NT$20,000). If this is not budgeted and the NSTC requires IRB review, budget adjustments will be processed after project approval.

5. All 116th Year research project applications must be submitted online. All forms must be generated via the NSTC website (https://www.nstc.gov.tw) under “Academic Research Service Portal.” Please note the following:

(1) For research involving human subjects, clinical trials, or related experiments as stipulated in Article 11, Section 4, Clause 1 of the NSTC’s funding guidelines, all research content and methods must be submitted to the relevant review boards or authorities for approval, with official documentation obtained. For integrated research projects, the principal investigator must provide a unified statement in the “Integrated Project – Explanation of Human Subject Research, Clinical Trials, Human Embryo and Embryonic Stem Cell Research” (Form CM04B), detailing the ethical review approvals for all subprojects or components.

(2) When drafting research proposals, principal investigators employing artificial intelligence (AI) tools must uphold professionalism and responsibility by thoroughly verifying content to ensure compliance with personal data privacy, intellectual property rights, and relevant legal regulations.

6. New faculty applying for rolling review projects must confirm with the Office of Research and Development contact after uploading their proposals, as these will be separately registered and submitted to the NSTC.

7. Relevant regulations and forms can be downloaded from the NSTC website homepage under the “Research Project Section” (URL: https://www.nstc.gov.tw/folksonomy/list/3555dc27-f75a-491d-b9b2-ab66c156801f?l=ch).
