2024 Taiwan-Germany Networking for Research

Background

In 2017, "TAItech Alliance" was established, bringing top national universities of applied sciences in Taiwan (Taiwan Tech, Taipei Tech, NCUT, YunTech, NCU and NKUST) to connect industries and academic specialties across the north, central, and south regions of the country.

In 2019, six German universities (German Alliance of Applied Sciences, HAWtech) gain collaboration with TAItech. Focus on five ways for collaboration, including student exchange, internships, laboratory cooperation, summer schools, and short-term study programs, aiming for practical cooperation, and benefits for students within HAWtech and TAItech.

From 2023, National Yunlin University of Science and Technology has taken over as a rotating chair of TAItech, actively strengthening existing cooperative relationships and promoting academic research cooperation. In the same year, with German Research Foundation (DFG)’s matchmaking, several research teams from Taiwan gain collaboration with German research teams. Both Taiwan and Germany universities independently applied for funding from NSTC and DFG.

During the past year, TAItech members respectively formed research teams with Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences, FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences, and Humboldt University of Berlin, in the fields of intelligent robotics, information technology, and other areas, conducting fruitful academic research collaborations.
