Funding Details

  1. Eligible Funding Categories:

    • International collaboration coordination fees (subject to approval per regulations)

    • Project operating costs related to international collaboration (including research personnel expenses and consumables)

    • Research equipment costs

    • International travel expenses

  2. Funding Cap:

    • The total funding for the "add-on" expansion project plus the original project budget shall not exceed NT$3 million per project per year.

    • However, the actual approved amount will depend on the review results, with an annual cap of NT$1.5 million.


Funding Duration

  1. Projects under this call may last from 1 to 3 years.

  2. The implementation period for projects selected by both sides is from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2028. The project duration must be consistent between the Taiwanese and Czech sides.


Program Focus

This program is a collaborative institutional research type aimed at developing innovative technologies that can be extended to application and commercialization. For example, products or solutions that could be market-ready in the short term, or technology-based methods and services with market potential.

Taiwanese project teams must include:

  1. A domestic research-oriented institution (e.g., National Applied Research Laboratories, Industrial Technology Research Institute), and

  2. Participation from the domestic industrial sector, with corporate research personnel listed as co- or associate PIs (on form CM06 “Key Research Personnel”). Projects with financial contributions from participating Taiwanese companies will be given priority.

Czech project teams must be primarily industry-led (companies), and may submit applications in collaboration with universities or research institutions (see Czech-side guidelines for details).

Eligibility

(1) Taiwanese Principal Investigators must meet the following requirements:

  1. Must currently be leading an active NSTC-funded research project (hereafter "original project") that is still valid as of the proposal deadline.

    • Projects categorized as planning/promotion, academia–industry collaboration, commissioned projects, or bilateral/multilateral international cooperation programs are not considered eligible original projects.

  2. PIs who are currently executing a major NSTC policy project and are not allowed to take on additional NSTC projects may still apply under this call to ensure bilateral cooperation proposals can be submitted.

(2) Czech-side PI qualifications are subject to TACR regulations.
