The National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) hereby announces an open call for project proposals under the "Smart Ocean" initiative for the years 2026 to 2029. The pertinent details are as follows:

1. This call invites academic teams to leverage artificial intelligence as a foundation to integrate applications within the marine domain, aiming to develop and establish comprehensive, long-term oceanic observation, investigation, and research systems. The objective is to enhance our nation's marine governance and promote the sustainable utilization of marine resources, encompassing both biological and non-biological assets.

2. This project shall be conducted in accordance with the NSTC’s guidelines for subsidized research projects. Principal investigators are required to thoroughly review all relevant announcements and regulations pertaining to this call prior to application.

3. The project execution period is scheduled to commence on June 1st, 2026. Appeals for proposals not granted funding will not be entertained.
