The NSTC is now accepting applications for the 116th Annual Project Grant Encouraging Women to Engage in Scientific and Technological Research.

1. The NSTC system at Yuntech will close at 23:59 on January 5th, 2027. Applicants are requested to complete the online application process before the deadline. Departments must confirm the eligibility of teachers applying online by 12:00 noon on January 6th, 2027, and print one hard copy of the application roster. After obtaining the department head’s approval stamp, the documents should be submitted to the Research Planning Division of the Office of Research and Development.

2. To avoid delays in the compilation, approval, and submission of project applications across the university, no online withdrawal or modification of submitted applications will be accepted on January 6th, 2027. Applicants are urged to complete their submissions early to prevent system congestion on the NSTC platform.

3. Eligibility of Principal Investigators: Female researchers who have not conducted NSTC-funded research projects between August 1st, 2024, and July 31st, 2027 (excluding project extension periods), and who meet the requirements outlined in Article 3 of the NSTC’s Guidelines for Subsidized Research Projects. However, those eligible to apply under the NSTC’s Guidelines Article 10, Paragraph 1, Subparagraph 1, which allows for on-demand review, are ineligible to apply for this specific project.

4. Before submitting the application, teachers must verify the application batch number and confirm that the principal investigator meets the qualifications specified in Article 3, Paragraph 1, Subparagraph 1, Item 1(1); and that contract-based full-time teaching staff meet the qualifications in Article 3, Paragraph 1, Subparagraph 3. Contract-based full-time teaching staff should also specify their full appointed title (e.g., Project-Based Assistant Professor, Project-Based Lecturer) to avoid rejection.

5. It is recommended that applicants include a budget allocation for research ethics review fees (approximately NT$20,000). If this budget is not included and the NSTC requires IRB review, budget adjustments will be processed after project approval.

6. All applications for the 116th Annual Research Project must be submitted online. All forms must be completed via the NSTC website (https://www.nstc.gov.tw) under the “Academic Research Service Portal.” Please note the following:

(1) For research involving human subjects, clinical trials, or other experiments as stipulated in Article 11, Paragraph 4, Subparagraph 1 of the NSTC’s Guidelines, all research content and methods must be submitted to the relevant review committees or authorities for approval, and official approval documents must be obtained. For integrated research projects, the principal investigator must provide a unified statement in the “Integrated Project – Explanation of Human Subject Research, Clinical Trials, Human Embryo, and Embryonic Stem Cell Research” (Form CM04B), detailing the ethical review approvals for each subproject or component.

(2) When drafting the research proposal, if the principal investigator employs artificial intelligence (AI) tools, they must uphold professional and responsible standards by thoroughly verifying the content to ensure compliance with personal data privacy, intellectual property rights, and relevant legal regulations.
